Sona Nair is the founder of Natyakala Dance Group, which aims to unite people through dance and create platforms to spread the significance and greatness of Indian classical dance forms by collaborating with society.

Sona Nair is a Classical Dancer, Performing Artist, and Choreographer of various Indian classical & ethnic dance forms, which include Mohiniyaatam, Bharatanatyam, Kuchupudi, Kathakali, Ottamthullal, Theyyam & folk dances. Some of her laurels include the Kalathilakam and Gold medalist awards from the Kerala State. She is based in Minneapolis and is the Artistic Director of Natyakala Dance Group. Sona Nar is a fiscal year 2023 recipient of a Creative Support for Individuals grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
